 Minor bleeding may occur during the first 48 hours following Gummy Smile surgery, Avoid disturbing the area for eight hours. Do not rinse out your mouth, or play with the surgery area with your fingers or tongue. Slight swelling of the operated area is not unusual,  Apply an ice bag to the area of surgery the first 24 hours after surgery, alternating 20 minutes on and 10 minutes off. 

Gum tissue may be tender for a short time after treatment. Keep gum tissue as clean as possible. Rinse the area with warm salt water (one half teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water at least twice daily for  5 to 7 days. 

Gentle brushing is recommended after eight hours period.

Smoking is not advised during the 7-14 days following surgery

Tooth sensitivity may be experienced after surgery, especially to cold.This usually passes within 1-2 days.  If sensitivity is severe or persists, contact your dentist.
